GeoTrust 128 bit SSL

GeoTrust has begun offering SSL’s with true 128 bit protection. They are offering several different service options and while most of the packages offer similar features, some are very different and are worth taking a closer look.
SSL is an abbreviation for Secure Sockets Layers. SSL is an encryption system that uses a public and private key to create a unique secure connection between a user (website visitor) and the server (website) and provides various levels of data protection. Websites that need lesser amounts of data protection may use 40 or 56 bit encryption with no problems. However, anyone running an e-commerce site, processing transactions, or handling sensitive data will want to step up and use true 128 bit or higher encryption.
GeoTrust offers two basic packages with some options that can be added to them. The basic option is called the GeoTrust Quick SSL. This package offers up to 256 bit encryption that works with 99.9% of all browsers. It comes with the Geo Trust Secure Seal and offers you a $10,000 warranty.
The higher level package is known as GeoTrust True Business. It offers all the features of the Quick SSL as well as faster installation and service speed. The True Business package offers Identity Assurance, and the opportunity to secure more than one domain or server. It also has a dynamic date and time stamp on the site that tells the exact day and time that the SSL was last checked and validated. A couple of the available options you can get with this package are an EV add-on and a Wildcard add-on. The EV add-on causes the user’s browser address bar to turn green when it is connected to the secure server. This green bar makes it very clear that they have a secure connection. The Wildcard add-on allows a person to secure unlimited domains on 1 server. This is a great addition for people with several different sites all hosted on a common location. There is also a power user version available that lets you secure up to four different servers and offers a warranty up to $250,000.
While some users may be fine with the basic service and only need light encryption and protection, anyone with an e-commerce site, a site the handles any kind of transactions or that wants the highest level of protection for their data should check out the True Business option. With some great add-on options it is an easy way to serve your customers and protect your business.
